still life with grape, orange, wine, etc detail
This is the first and only (so far) painting complete in 2009. After finishing the painting i did for David just months ago, I decided that I loved that one so much, i’m going to do one for myself. I set it up similar to the original except I can’t paint cheese, so i decided to go with some fruit. This one took about a month to do, again, play movie while working on it. I think Harry Potter was a popular theme in those nights.

Still life – Christmas 2008

still life, wine bottle, wine glass, grape, cheese, knife, 2008
I was asked to do a painting for my manager David Finney in December of 2008. It was meant to be a Christmas present for his then girlfriend and current Fiancée Amy. We worked together to come up with the idea, which was simple scene of a cutting board, and ingredient of Amy’s favorite dish. David bought the grape and cheese, and i used my own cutting board, knife, wine glass, and a recently acquired bottle of wine (from walking a neighbor’s dog) and set them up in the corner of my bedroom. I put a movie on my laptop, and painted almost every night for 2 weeks before the Holidays.

Albert Bierstadt – The Sierra Nevada in California copy
While home bound in the first half of my summer vacation in 2006. I made a trip to the local Hobby Lobby buying painting supplies and craps i don’t need, I came across a print of “Among The Sierra Nevada Mountains California” by Albert Bierstadt. I was with my mom staring at a print and telling her it can’t be that hard to copy a painting like this. She dared me to do one for her, and in spirit of spontaneity and hotheadedness, I agreed and set to work. I lost interest of the painting after just 2 weeks, but kept painting on and off for another 2 month. It was never finished it, you can see the grass toward the bottom were never finished. This piece measures 45″ by 60″. Oh yeah, the shape isn’t accurate compare to the original painting either, i had to improvise a little bit. Follow to see more images. Read more >>
